In a certain group, I only want to read article that have a certain string in the subject. If I have /^/j /string/m in my KILL file, I will read all articles containing 'string' everytime a read this group, also articles that I have read once. How do I change that behaviour? -- Bjorn Engsig, Domain: bengsig@oracle.nl, bengsig@oracle.com Path: uunet!mcsun!orcenl!bengsig

RN just wasn't built for "kill all but" article filtering. The suggested mechanism, as you say, doesn't work right, and would be slow even if it did. This was one of the motivations for NewsClip. It can be found for anonymous ftp in uunet!~ftp/ClariNet/nc.tar.Z -- it is shareware, though. -- Brad Templeton, ClariNet Communications Corp. -- Waterloo, Ontario 519/884-7473

GNUS has a very useful "kill all but" approach, though it's limited
by the speed of the 'nntp.el' approach. I troll through many
megabytes of news without too much problem. --Ed
