dean@truevision.com (Dean Riddlebarger) (05/25/90)
We are running news [b2.11] with sendmail as our mailer on an ISC UNIX [386/ix] machine. We have a domain name, but our mail/news server and local downstream machines on the ethernet do not use the domain prefix as their uunames [it's a long story involving traditions around here...:-)]. So, I've defined in the GENERICFROM line in the defs.h file for news to be our domain name [truevision.com], and at least one "From:" line in outbound postings is structured correctly as a result. [E.g. it looks like dean@truevision.com] However, the Reply-To: line still has the system uname embedded. [E.g. it looks like dean@epicb.UUCP] And the Mail-ID line picks up the uname as well. My questions: Will the HIDDENNET variable in defs.h fix this, at least partially? Or will we need to make more modifications to our sendmail config files? [Oddly, if you shoot something out via mail the domain addressing looks good, so I doubt that there is a connection.....] Suggestions welcome. [Yep, I'm going to move to smail sooner or later....] -- <:> Dean Riddlebarger "The bus came by <:> <:> MIS Manager - Truevision, Inc. and I got on, <:> <:> [317] 841-0332 That's when it <:> <:> uucp: uunet!epicb!dean dean@truevision.com all began." <:>
