[news.software.b] Why won't my EXPIRE commands remove some old stuff?

nolan@tssi.UUCP (Michael Nolan) (05/28/90)

I'm running news.2.11 (I *think* that's B news, if not please excuse the
mispost.)

I have accumulated several VERY OLD articles, mostly in comp.sys.mac.programmer,
that are VERY old (march), and I can't seem to get rid of them.

I've tried just about every variation on 'expire' I can think of, but these
old articles seem to stay around. Any suggestions?

UUCP: tssi!nolan should work,
if not try something like uunet!frith!upba!tssi!nolan

Thanks for all the suggestions. The problem turned out to be that the
old articles were not in the history file. Rebuilding the history file
(the -r option in expire) solved the problem.
