"ln -s /dev/null /whatever/the/log/file/name/is" ?

or, if you prefer the brute force technique,

"/etc/mknod /whatever/the/log/file/name/is c 3 2"

There is no off-the-shelf provision for this, although if your system has
symbolic links you can symlink log to /dev/null.  An alternative is just
to run a cron job to truncate the log, say, once an hour.
