[news.software.b] Bnews 3.0

lance@hermix.UUCP (Lance Ellinghouse) (11/21/89)

Where can I get Bnews 3.0?? I have been looking for it and cannot find
it. UUNET.UU.NET does not seem to have it, nor does WSMR-SIMTEL20

Does it run on SysV yet? Where can I get it?
Please point me in the right direction...

Thanks!

I got the latest version from uunet. It's called tmnn8-8.tar.Z or
something close to that.

  It was written on SysV.

You can uucp it from osu-cis: request it as:
	foreach i (a b c d e f g h i j k)
		uucp osu-cis!~/news/tmnn7-8.tar.Z-part-a$i
	end

Does this mean that there will not be a B news version 3.0 as such,
and that we will all be migrating to Teenage Mutant Ninja Netnews (TMNN) ?!?

TMNN == B3.0, by decision of Rick Adams (maintainer of B2.nn) some time ago.

The alternative is to migrate to C News. Or not to migrate at all, as
witness some of the antediluvian systems that turn up in who's-running-what
reports.

When one has made extensive modifications to a news system, one is reluctant
to "upgrade" to a new one that requires even more custom configuration.

I have asked this a couple times now with no response, so I'll try the third
time before I hang my head in dejection and rejection:

What is happening to Bnews 3.0? Will it be officially released? Is there
a newer version than the tmnn7-8 I got by ftp from uunet?

I am *VERY* interested in this, since there are several features in there
I would like to have running here even in Beta.
