B News had a check on the age of a posting, rejecting everything that was older than a certain date. Geoff and Henry decided not to perform this check. I assume the reason was that things run faster if you don't bother to check to errors. Unfortunately, this has led to our being overrun by old articles pouring out of decwrl. Paul Vixie recently converted to C News, as did Steve Schoch at ames. As a result of mistake at decwrl, we have received a week's worth of month old news (so far!) today. I hope, for the net's sake, that there are not enough C News sites to allow this mistake to drown the whole net. As it is, the bay area is going to take a major hit. My advice to Geoff and Henry: put in the check. As the number of C News sites grows, we're going to see more and more of these problems. Not only can't I stop the flow through here, I can't even expire it since the C News expire does not provide for expiration based on posting date. -- Larry Blair ames!vsi1!lmb lmb@vicom.com
