[news.software.b] Is my C News expire slow..?

chohan@hpuxa.ircc.ohio-state.edu (Harpal Chohan) (09/13/90)

I've recently installed C News on a newly acquired machine and am still
in the process of experiencing for myself the B vs C pros and cons.
The setup is a DEC 5400 running Ultrix 4.0 and C News 12-Mar-90.
I'm not using the supplied stdio library.

I have 20 days worth of news history and expire takes about 90 mins.
Does this sound right?? Seems way over the 30 mins other folk
have been mentioning.

-h

The scripts are using /bin/sh though, which I'm going to change to sh5..

This is rather slow. However, it's not hard to figure out why: you're
using an old C News from the pre-dbz days. Upgrading to current software
will speed things up quite a bit.
