A Unix bulletin-board system implemented SIGs (special interest groups) as mail-files - to view a sig, the scripts would do things with 'mail -f signame' and to post, it would pipe the posting into 'mail signame'. Primitive, but for a completely un-netted machine (not even UUCP), it worked. We just got a new machine and installed Cnews and TRN. I'd like to get all of these mail-files split up into news postings. Has anyone done this before, and if so, would you share your scripts with me ? (I can do it myself, but if I don't have to, I don't want to). As much as possible, I want to retain the original post-er, date, etc. Also, the TRN man-pages don't seem to give a lot of information/examples about writing macros. Should I look in the RN man-pages ? Are there other places I should look ? News (on Unix systems, anyway) is still pretty-new to me. Thanks in advance...
