[net.lang.lisp] help needed

peters@micomvax.UUCP (peter srulovicz) (10/23/85)

We have recently received UNIX 4.2 with franz lisp.
After going through the readme and makefiles for
lisp, we found that in theory we should be able to
run on the sun. When we tried, we found two undefined
quantities: CGXbuf and sobuf. The first quantitie is also
referenced by the sun windowing package but is not
defined anywhere. Needles to say we could not get
lisp up. If anyone knows what is going on please
let me know. Thanks in advance.

Opus 38.89 of Franz Lisp runs just fine on the SUNs. But the
older version distributed with 4.2BSD will not build for 4.2BSD.
Franz 38.89 used to be available via anonynmous login on the ARPANET from
UCBVAX, but I haven't checked recently. There's always Franz, Inc's version,
which is much bigger and has many more features, but also, being bigger,
tends to garbage collect much more frequently.
