Can anyone offer any suggestions to the following problem with a Cnews installation. The news arrives ok from the network (ACSnet in our case) but falls over at the processing stage after input/newsrun calls relay/relaynews. Basically the message is: relaynews: recursive loop setting ids with all the batches ending up in /usr/spool/news/in.coming/bad. The environment is SysV 3.2 with Cnews Patch Dec15, 1990 installed. Also the setnewsid program is used with it being setuid for root. The comments in the source to setnewsid indicate that as well as setuid for root the environment variable NEWSPERMS should be added (to where ?).
