[news.software.b] uucp -> black hole in C news

palkovic@linac.fnal.gov (John A. Palkovic) (01/24/91)

I just discovered that all articles coming in via uucp from three of
my feeds are failing when they get here with a log file entry like
this:

Jan 23 11:07:21.180 linac - no Path: header

No mail is sent by any of the C news software to indicate something is
awry.

Any ideas out there? I get 10-50 articles every day from another feed
via uucp. That site is running B news 2.11.19 and sending it
uncompressed and unbatched (I think). The failed articles are coming
from C news sites. At least I know two of the three are C news. Linac
is running C patch date 15-Dec-1990.

When I look at the uucp logs I see *no difference* between articles that
fail like the above and articles which succeed.

In article <*739#^@linac.fnal.gov> I said:

All three feeds were compressed. Compressed news was being fed
directly to relaynews, which is bad. It has been fixed. Email me if
you want the gory details.
