Hi! I've been running C-News for about a week, and no I've got the first big problem (not quite unusual): Look at my history-files in /usr/lib/news: -rw-rw-r-- 1 news news 205068 Feb 4 04:40 history -rw-rw-r-- 1 news news 63 Feb 4 04:40 history.dir -rw-rw-r-- 1 news news 17281588 Feb 4 04:40 history.pag and see how many articles I have: 3183 10584 205068 /usr/lib/news/history And my history.pag file is about 17MB large. Due to this size (I think), expire and relaynews take _hours_, I just cancelled expire that's been running for 3 hours. I used the dbz-package from C-News and even mkhistory builds a file same size. What could be wrong with it? Is there any option I ignored when building the doit.* files? Should I've had to answer 'no' to the question about the available disk-space? Should I use another dbm (but my feed's using dbz, and he doesn't have similar problems)??? Many questions, and I hope, somebody will be able to help me.... Please answer by mail (if possible), I don't know, whether I'll be able to get all the news, especially not with this performance (sometimes (!), relaynews is processing a message every two minutes !!!) Oops, I'm awfully sorry... Some people pointed out to me that I was supposed to compile dbz w/o the -O option, and this hint was included in the notebook/problems.... I must have overlooked this hint, but I did check the problems-file first. Oh well, the next time I'll be more caucious. By the way, it worked... Thanks to all who responded to my article, anyway.
