[news.software.b] KILL a particular poster

dcox@ssd.kodak.com (Don Cox (253-7121)) (02/05/91)

I read an article in this newsgroup asking how to kill news
articles sent from a particular person.

I thought that the reply stated that you would put the following
in your KILL file: (for ex., to kill all articles posted from dcox)

/: from:.*dcox/h:j

It doesn't seem to work. Am I missing an extra space or something?
Thanks.

No, you have an extra colon and space. The reason that subjects start
with a colon when inserted with K is that they my be either "Subject:"
or "Subject: Re:" forms, and you want to look at the part after the last
colon. It's a regular expression, and if you want to be really safe you
can add a ^ before the from. Case is ignored.
