I have a few questions about running NetNews software over a network. Here's my setup: One machine is the mail and news host (a Sun 3/160) with all of the spool files and executables on it. These partitions are exported. This machine can readnews and postnews but it is a very restricted machine (it disallows all remote logins, except mine). Users can readnews from their own machines by mounting the partitions from mine. The sys entry on a remote machine sends the article to sendnews which mails it to the host for processing. Here's my problem: Users can post news on their machine and their machine will enter the article into the data base, but the article will not be forwarded to uunet for processing. Possible causes: 1. The sys entries are all screwed up. 2. uurec is not working on the host machine. (not invoking inews). Is there a better or easier way to let users on remote machines read/post news? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
