In C news, if an article is dropped because it does not have a
newsgroup that is in the sys file's subscription list for ME, is
the message-id of that article stored in the history file? I know
that articles that are accepted but filed in junk are entered in
the history file but what about unsubscribed newsgroups and those
with an "x" in the active file?

In `NNTP mode' (-n), which most of our shell scripts invoke relaynews in, relaynews will create history file entries for articles rejected to due an active file x flag or a subscription list mismatch. There have been requests to broaden the class of failures that produce history file entries, but I don't have the details in front of me right now. -- Geoff Collyer utzoo!geoff, zoo.toronto.edu!geoff
