I've been having trouble getting expire to run properly. Everything seems to work OK, except that the expire times set for individual groups aren't being honored. Things are being expired, but I think only the /bounds/ or ``all'' entry is working as individual groups don't expire as fast as they should. We're using Cnews on an SCO Unix 3.2.2 system. The man page entry listing what the various date designations do in explist is somewhat confusing, so I set everything up with three dates (even though the original explist included only one date per group), to see if it would help. It didn't. Here's our explist. Any help would be appreciated. # modified version, no archiving # # hold onto history lines 14 days, nobody gets >90 days /expired/ x 5 - /bounds/ x 0-1-7 - # override later defaults for some groups of note sci.space.shuttle,rec.birds x 3 - # big non-tech groups held long enough for a long weekend sci, rec, talk, soc, misc, alt u 0-1-4 - # real noise gets thrown away fast news.groups x 0-1-2 - junk x 0-1-1 - tor.news.stats x 0-1-1 - # throw away some technical stuff not worth archiving comp.os.vms x 0-2-2 - comp.mail.maps x 7-7-7 - comp.binaries x 0-1-1 - alt.sex x 0-1-1 - # default: 7 days and archive all x 5-5-5 -
