I have been having some trouble getting a new disk installed, maybe there's some corruption ... or is this a typical news problem (I haven't seen it before). Is it like the "inbound news is garbled" message that Bnews spits out occasionally? And how about these: relaynews: can't link to `talk/politics/misc/7541' relaynews: can't link to `misc/headlines/3633' relaynews: can't link to `alt/activism/5646' relaynews: can't link to `alt/desert-storm/10380' These files already exist, and are owned by news. There is no reason given for the "can't link". What would the typcial reason be ?? Thanks! Typically this means a batch got garbled in transmission. The bits and pieces looking plausible but not sensible usually means bits got trashed in a compressed file, so uncompress is having fun. >Did I get some garbled news maybe? It's rare almost to nonexistence on a properly-configured system running on stable hardware. I'd suspect that new disk. >And how about these: > >relaynews: can't link to `talk/politics/misc/7541' Might be disk problems again.
