The header really says most of it. Specifically expire is not really expiring the news articles according to the -e option. The command used is; /usr2/lib/news/expire -e4 -E20 and NO articles are expired. I read tfm and nothing really points to the problem. My system *used* to expire news just fine for a couple years. I believe the problem really started when I tried to compile (unsuccessfully) and install C news. That is not certain. I used the -v option on expire and it doesn't really say anything is wrong like protection violation of something obvious like that. Is expire supposed to have the sticky bit set or anything like that? This is a System V Unix, r3.0. Yea, rebuild and reinstall, right? :-( Cheers! - randy Usenet: randy@rls.uucp Bangpath: ...<backbone>!osu-cis!rls!randy Internet: rls!randy@tut.cis.ohio-state.edu %CC-I-ANACRONISM, The operator is an obsolete form and may not be portable.
