[net.lang.lisp] Freeware: Xerox Portable Common Lo

marick@ccvaxa.UUCP (12/31/85)

Xerox has announced that they are making Portable CommonLoops (PCL)
available free of change and without restrictions*, beginning in early
January. PCL and products derived from it may be distributed freely.

Portable CommonLoops is a portable implementation of CommonLoops, Xerox's
object-oriented extension to Common Lisp. CommonLoops is a candidate for
a standard extension to Common Lisp. Other candidates, from other groups,
may also become available later.

To get in the distribution loop, send mail to the following address:

  CommonLoops Coordinator
  XAIS
  2400 Hanover St.
  Palo Alto, CA 94303
(or send Arpanet mail to CommonLoops-Coordinator.pa@Xerox.arpa)

They want the following information:

  Electronic and U.S. Mail address:
What kind of Common Lisp machine you have:
(e.g. Sun running Lucid Lisp, 3600, lambda etc..)
What kind of Common Lisp user you are:
(Common Lisp Vendor, applications vendor, researcher...)
What you might do with Portable CommonLoops:

For now, distribution will be via FTP over the Arpanet, but sites with
access may send copies to sites not on the Arpanet.

* They do not yet have permission to export CommonLoops, so the software
may not be distributed outside the United States or to foreign nationals.
