I am a bit confused about when inews adds the .signature file, and when not. It seems as if it gets added when following up with 'F' in rn, but not when posting with Pnews. The code in inews seems to depend on whether the Sender: field is empty, which is defaulted from the From: field if it exists. What is the logic here, if any? Should I remove the From: line from Pnews.header? Wouldn't it be better if it always was the posting program that inserted .signature, not inews? -- Tor Lillqvist, working, but not speaking, for the Technical Research Centre of Finland

I am running Bnews 2.11.19 on my SCO UNIX SYS V/386 Rel 3.2.2 and I have created a .signature file. When I post a message to news using postnews after I send the message I get the following message: inews: "/bbs/acct/scott/.signature left off(must be readable by "inews" owner) Can someone please give me some info as to what is wrong?? I tried chmod to 744 for .signature and even tried making the owner of the file to news. What is wrong. Thanks for the help. E-mail ...!uunet!lgnp1!phlpa!scott
