Cnews, patch level 24-Mar-1991, NNTP 1.5.11, sun 3-80, sunOS 4.1. I'm trying to exclude certain groups from making it to my site via the `sys' file. According to news(5), I can edit the ME entry to have "alt,!alt.sex.self", as in ME:comp,misc,news,rec,sci,soc,alt,!alt.sex.self,gnu,ne,\ to,/alt,ba,ca,inet,gnu,na,usa,world Articles are still showing up in "alt.sex.self". I realize that a MISmatch on alt.sex.self would not prevent a match on alt.sex.self.public. Do I need to edit the active file to disable (x) newsgroups I don't want? I would appreciate any pointers I could get in tracking down how do make this work properly. -- Kenneth H. Cox Viewlogic Systems, Inc. kenc@viewlogic.com ..!{harvard,husc6}!viewlogic.com!kenc

Try this instead: ME:comp,misc,news,rec,sci,soc,alt,!alt.sex.self,gnu,ne,to/\ alt,ba,ca,inet,gnu,na,usa,world -- Geoff Collyer world.std.com!geoff, uunet.uu.net!geoff
