I'm in the process of bringing up a new machine using cnews. This machine (that I'm posting from) has bnews 2.11 on it, but given that it has 4K users and cnew's reputation for speed I thought I'd give it a try. I actually found the cnews installation to be easier than bnews; but that's not the point. I'm now feeding news from my bnews system to my cnews system and finding that after each batch the errlog file is huge; 500K. Most of the bulk is "relaynews: unbatcher out of synch, tossing: " etc. I am now in the process of looking through the source code to see why exactly the two systems (unbatcher relaynews) get out of synch, and thought I'd post in the hopes of finding a ready-made solution. Is it something that I'm doing wrong? Anyone else run into this trouble? Bruce King / bruceki@polari.uucp / sumax.seattleu.edu!polari!bruceki

You should be looking for problems in transmission and/or compress/uncompress. Batches are not getting through intact. -- And the bean-counter replied, | Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology "beans are more important". | henry@zoo.toronto.edu utzoo!henry
