[news.software.b] How to re-run failed batches / old input files?

kenc@suntan.viewlogic.com (Kenstir) (05/28/91)

I am running Cnews + NNTP 1.5.11, and got the following mail from Cnews:

	old input files:
	-rw-rw-r-- 1 news 280637 May 21 16:11 nntp.a03117
	-rw-rw-r-- 1 news 206615 May 21 16:11 nntp.a05968

recent bad input batches (perhaps worth investigation):
	-rw-rw-r-- 1 root 90220 May 26 15:17 bad/675285470

	...

I am wondering whether I should try to re-run the things and how
I could do that. The bad/* batch failed on an illegal Control:
header I believe.

Thanks an awful lot!

Well, you can do a re-run by just moving the bad batch out of "bad" up
into the main in.coming directory again. However, there's not much point
in bothering. The relaynews/newsrun combination is a bit too conservative
about putting things in bad; it shouldn't have bothered in this case. Just
ignore it.
