When, oh }WHEN will that att brain-damage stop and these hundreds of machines }domainified? A friend, who works for Bellcore in Morristown, NJ, is on machine "thumper" there. The internal "netdir" command on AT&T's Datakit network told me that I could get to thumper over the Datakit network. I was amazed that I could get to a Bellcore computer over AT&T's own network, so I tried the destination it gave me, to no avail. I finally sent mail to the person who maintains netdir, and he informed me that the "thumper" that was on Datakit was a laser printer. :-( Machine att (the main gateway) can handle domainized addresses, so maybe it is only a matter of time before the powers what be at AT&T convert fully to domainized addresses in their map entry.
