[net.lang.lisp] Kyoto Common Lisp

massar@think.ARPA (J.P. Massar) (05/01/85)

Anyone else out there using Kyoto Common Lisp? We recently brought it
up on our 4.2BSD Vax/750.

I find the interpeter unexpectedly slow, taking vast amounts of time
for seemingly simple operations. It is essentially impossible to use
compiled code while debugging since it seems to take forever to fasl
in compiled files.

Anyone out there with better experiences? Hints, tricks? (I know about
SAVE).

Anyone out there using Kyoto Common Lisp? Is Common Loops on it yet?
How does anyone like it? I am very attracted because I can buy
the source for all our suns for $450 plus $50/workstation (as opposed
to Lucid, which costs $2500 object only), and Kyoto claims to be
integrated into SunView. Anyone using it and so know for sure?
Responses to me directly appreciated--I'll summarize.
