[news.config] beware of phoenix.PRINCETON.EDU

romain@winnie.Princeton.Edu (Romain Kang) (03/09/87)

Princeton University Center for Information Technology has recently
added a new Usenet site called "phoenix". Fortunately, this site seems
distinct from ucbphoenix. Unfortunately, there is another "phoenix" in
New Jersey, operated by AT&T Information Systems, according to the map
entries I've seen.

Further, mail that I have sent to usenet@phoenix.PRINCETON.EDU has gone
unanswered. I'm not sure what the outcome will be, but in the mean
time, any replies you make to/through system "phoenix" should be
carefully examined for the domain .PRINCETON.EDU. Avoid sites that
auto-route, and if in doubt, use snail mail!

And no, dwon!honey did not propose the name "phoenix" in a fit of
pique (nor did anyone else in Princeton Computer Science...)
