During the week of March 23-27, sdcsvax and the other UCSD EECS systems will be down from late Monday/early Tuesday until either Thursday or Friday as EECS gets its new power, air conditioning, and raised floor installed. With sdcsvax down for a day or three, there will be a distinct interruption in mail and news services in our area. We hope to take sdcsvax down last of all the EECS systems, and bring it back up first in order to lessen the impact, but given the principle of the Innate Perversity of Mechanical Objects, we might run into snags that would delay things a day or so. (We're going to have to disconnect every piece of equipment and move it out of the room during the construction, then bring it back in and connect it all up again. Of course something will break! If you have extremely urgent mail requirements, it might be wise to install some alternate routing before the interruption happens. Cross your fingers and wish us luck!
