The MIT Lincoln Laboratory vax installation which was formerly known as ll-xn.arpa is now officially registered as XN.LL.MIT.EDU. ll-xn.arpa is still being accepted as a nickname, however if you are trying to contact us through the arpanet, you should be using XN.LL.MIT.EDU, as this will not continue indefinitely. Also, if we contact you directly via TCP/IP and your software attempts to verify our identity with the Arpanet tables, you will get back the new name. I have, I believe, contacted the system administrators of all the machines we contact regularly and advised them of our name change, however just in case I have missed anyone, if there is an entry in your L.sys file for ll-xn.arpa it should be changed to XN.LL.MIT.EDU. If you are trying to contact us via a uucp connection rather than through the arpanet, you should still be using ll-xn as the site name. Only our name in the arpanet host tables has changed. I have taken over handling news and uucp problems from Glenn Adams, so if there are any questions, please contact me. Mail addressed to postmaster, nntp-mangager, news, etc. will go to me as well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kathryn L.
