On Friday May 20th, rutgers lost its / and /usr partitions. We were able to recover the root partition but /usr had to be restored from tape. I only found out about this late Saturday afternoon. Checking the system I found that our news `active' file was not restored causing inews to squirrel away every article that came in - all 12K+ (that's articles!!!) of them. rutgers has been churning away on these all weekend. I do not believe that any news has been lost. Mail, on the other hand, was lost. How much I just don't know. Any mail that could have been in transit hat entered rutgers between the hours of 4am and 8pm on Friday may have been lost.
