[news.config] mit-eddie lossage

wisner@killer.UUCP (Bill Wisner) (06/10/88)

For nearly a week now, mit-eddie has been up and down -- mostly down.
It has been crashing unpredictably and often, and takes some time after
a reboot to allow incoming internet connections.

Basically, eddie is quite sick.

It's also running on only 2 megs of memory, so it's very, very slow.

News traffic through eddie is probably a total loss, and mail is quite
dodgy. It's probably best to avoid eddie for the time being.

I've no idea how long this will last.

What do you do if you are trying to send mail *to* mit-eddie?

:-)

Scream and yell a lot and rip your hair out and complain loudly.
