The Computer Engineering Dept. at CWRU will be shutting down two of its
systems begining in July. All user accounts on the systems "Mandrill" and
"Cheetah" will be removed on July 1st. Any mail to these users should be
sent to <username>@alpha.CES.CWRU.Edu. All of the accounts (that are going
to be moved) have been moved already so start updateing your mailing lists
now. Alpha can be reached via the InterNet or (temporarily) through
mandrill via UUCP. (ie. sun!mandrill!alpha!user)
The big question now is where will the UUCP and News feeds go? At this
time there is NO replacement for "Mandrill" (our only UUCP/News host) and
there is none on the horizon. I will try to maintain the system as a
UUCP/News gateway for as long as I can but the system is very sick at the
moment (crashing 8 times a day) and if it dies it will NOT be fixed.
Anyone with UUCP connections to "Mandrill" should start looking for an
alternate feed just in case the worst happens. We will be trying to find
a new home for UUCP/News but at this point the future is unclear.
