I collected a little over 50,800 news paths from May 31 until now, and, with some help from Gnu Emacs picture-mode and a perl program, here is a map showing all connections that appear in 500 or more articles. I managed to complete all the lines except the one from uwvax to husc6, hence the (HUSC6) at the top. Backbone sites are shown in capital letters. If someone else in the Bay Area were to make this map, it would look almost the same except for sites epimass, csi, and nsc, which only have a relatively local effect. It was hard to draw "ames"; 16 different sites are shown connected to it, making it the busiest mixing bowl for news.
