they seem to be healthy enough uucp-wise (I have stuff in my log from
fmsrl7 dialing up umix as of 7/14 14:48 , like within the past
5 minutes. What makes you think that they've dropped off the
planet?

I'm not sure how their newsfeed is reaching them these days -
if I had to guess it would be mailrus!eecae!fmsrl7 if I'm
involved. That's somewhat less than an optimal path for
sending mail, however....

(on vacation 7/15 to 7/23 so if it's my fault, uh, I can't be
much help....)

fmsrl7 is alive and kicking. however mail to their postmaster is unlikely
to be answered, or so mike wayne (teemc!wayne) informs me. that's because
there is not active person looking after it. the latest maps show
connections to killer and mibte and other sites around.

i would suggest you contact mike wayne, perhaps clogged news or something
has been queuing up? fmsrl7's future is rather uncertain i'm told, but
who knows?

rel has successfully talked with fmsrl7 evey day this month through
today. There doesn't appear to be any problems with our uucp connection.

I'm not sure who the new SYSADMIN since Mike Wayne left. Mike sent out a
map update just before he left. I haven't heard from anyone else.

I am still (remotely) trying to tend fmsrl7. I have crafted many
scripts to insure that the machine runs fine unattended and that uucp stays
up and running. John F. Haugh II (jfh@rpp386.UUCP) was concerned that it
did not contact his machine. This may have been attibutable to a lack of
tuning of one script and in no way should be construed as fmsrl7 having
"dropped off the planet". At present, fmsrl7 is in reliable, daily contact
with the machines listed in the map entries (as far as I know) and news is
continuing to flow unimpeded. If anyone else is having problems, I suggest
you MAIL your concerns to me at teemc.
