We are planning to upgrade our Pyramids to OSx 4.4 this week. The major player, tut.cis.ohio-state.edu, will be converted over the weekend. Tut will be down for not less than 8 hours Saturday, hopefully returning to normal operation thereafter. If there's trouble with the conversion, we'll continue to work it out through the weekend. In the event of conversion catastrophe (not likely, but I don't trust anybody), we will back out to the current system in time for normal operation Monday. As a sidelight to this, we're moving the department's /usr/spool/mail to another machine, saqqara.cis.ohio-state.edu. For this reason, the entire complement of the department's machines will disappear from the Internet for a couple of hours Thursday night while we take everything down to prevent inadvertent attempts to access a non-existent /usr/spool/mail, dump & restore /usr/spool/mail, rework /etc/fstab all over creation, and then bring it all back up.
