dhp@att.ATT.COM (Price) (08/15/88)
As of noon CDT Monday August 15th, ihnp4 is no longer available for external access. Please remove all references to ihnp4 from mail paths, pathalias databases, Systems (L.sys) files, etc. Time to print new business cards. We will permit the currently queued activity to drain out (which luckily isn't much, due to previous warnings) and then remove references to extenal machines from ihnp4. As a reminder; AT&T R&D management has decided that passthrough electronic mail has become too burdensome to continue to support, and will therefore be blocked. The block will be installed in September. All mail routed to or from AT&T R&D sites should be now routed via the 'att' machines. If you are an Internet site, traffic may be routed via: host.ATT.COM or the ATT.ARPA machine. The passthrough block is already installed on ATT.ARPA. The 'att' machines currently have over 100 connections to outside hosts, so discovering a route should not be too difficult. Thus a page of email history turneth. -- Douglas H.
