News and some mail service on lll-tis (tis.llnl.gov) was interrupted over the weekend when the leased line connecting it to the LLNL backbone network (and hence the Internet) went down. Previous to that, the file server that actually holds the news spool for lll-tis was down for an OS upgrade, and a number of spooled articles and the batch files may have been lost because of a disk backup problem. The machine is still receiving and sending telephone UUCP mail, but no UUCP<-->Internet forwarding is being done, and no news is being received or fed. We don't know when our network connection will be restored, but the appropriate people are working on it. We apologize for the inconvenience to our news feeds and UUCP neighbors. Michael C.
