[news.config] Sendbatch Is Flakey - Help

noel@ubbs-nh.MV.COM (Noel Del More) (03/29/89)

I am experiancing difficulties with the sendbatch script as supplied in
the news 2.11B release under SCO Xenix 386 2.3.1. Any assistance or
suggestions would be welcome.

When run by cron, with an entry as follows:

00 6 * * * su news -c "/usr/lib/news/sendbatch -c  xyzsys"  > /dev/null

NOTHING happens! However, if as "su" I invoke the following:

./sendbatch -c xyzsys

it works as it should.

Typical sys file entry looks like so:

xyzsys:world............:F:

The configuration section of sendbatch looks like this:

: '@(#)sendbatch.sh	1.20	1/15/89'

LIB=/usr/lib/news
BATCH=/usr/spool/batch
LIM=50000
IHAVE=ihave
MAXBATCH=1000000000
RNEWS=rnews
UUX_FLAGS="-r -z"
CMD='$LIB/batch $BATCH/$rmt $BLIM'
ECHO=
COMP=
C7=
cflags=
DU_BLOCK_SIZE=512
REM_SPACE=1000000000
DOIHAVE=
SPOOLDISK=/dev/root
MINDF=5000

Thanks!

Noel
