This coming Wednesday, April 19, 1989, the USENET and UUCP gateway for the University of Southern California (USC) will change. The current machine is oberon (oberon.usc.edu on the Internet) which is a VAX 11/750. The new machine's USENET/UUCP name is "usc" (usc.edu on the Internet) and is a Sun-4/280. The transition will take place between 11am and 8pm PST. After the transition the old oberon will continue to handle mail until it is permanently turned off in a month or two. Appropriate aliasing for UUCP on the new "usc" machine should prevent any immediate bouncing of mail. Michael A.
