In response to the inquiry made on "net.periph" about an add-on unit to fit over a selectric typewriter keyboard and make it into a printer: I have literature on a product called the "Robotype 2001" Computer-to- Typewriter Interface which does this; there may be others from different vendors. This literature dates from 1980 or prior. The price at that time was $849. Parallel interface was $49; serial or IEEE 488 interface was $139. The literature states that models are available to fit on these typewriters: Selectric I, II, III, Correcting; Remington SR101; Olympia single-element; Royal/Adler single-element; Silver-Reed single element; SCM Vantage, Intrepid single-element and type-bar machines. ["Silver-Reed"?!?!? Sounds like a radio from 1937...] There is a great deal of puffery about how wonderful this thing is. The key-actuating unit fits over the typewriter and attaches with no tools. Rather than go into greater detail, I'll provide the addresses and phone numbers given: Manufacturer: Compu-Matics, Inc. 1347 W.
