<munch> We're just beginning to convert from troff to LaTeX here, and our first document included a table using the parbox form of entry with a description like {p{1.7in}p{1.7in}p{1.7in}}. This gives wild justification and erratic vertical spacing between entries (got with \\[0.08in]). It seems that if the last column is shorter than the first two, no extra spacing appears. Examples of its justification are: Main production bottle- necks caused by lack of (!) pro- cessing power and queues for laserprinter (serious at busy periods) and (!) Commands em- bedded in text; processing and printing needed to see results Any ideas, we thought TeX was particularly good at this sort of thing ! -- UUCP: ...!mcvax!ukc!warwick!cudcv PHONE: +44 203 523037 JANET: cudcv@uk.ac.warwick.daisy ARPA: cudcv@daisy.warwick.ac.uk Rob McMahon, Computing Services, Warwick University, Coventry CV4 7AL, England

Try using some of TeX's low-level commands to "loosen things up" so it won't be so fussy. You could also try it with a ragged-right margin (within the table) instead having it filled. -------------------------------------- rusty c. wright rusty@weyl.berkeley.edu ucbvax!weyl!rusty
