[I am posting this for someone here at the University, feel free to address replies to me - bzs] We're looking for a text management system that could be used to store and manage university publications and fragments of publications. The first application would be the course catalogs, which need to be created annually by gathering together thousands of individual course descriptions, a few dozen boilerplate sections, and some catalog-specific text. We need a system that would let us keep all these separate pieces in some sort of database for maintenance by various departments and then let the printer collect them together and feed them to the typesetter when they are ready to be printed. If anybody knows of either a system specifically designed to manage publications like this or a system that could be adapted, please drop a line. (If it can also talk TCP/IP, that's even better.) Thanks. -Barry Shein, Boston University
