[comp.text] Problems with troff and .me macros

Hello,

I have a problem concerning troff and the me macros. I am writing
German texts (with umlauts). All works fine, except when I want to
use an umlauted character in a section heading. Then the line gets
spoiled, that means, a huge amount of white space is inserted into
the line and the rest of the text is packed to the left side of the
page.
Can someone help me, how I can get this done?
