Lotus Manuscript stores files in readable 7-bit ASCII
Recently, while playing around with a version of Lotus
Manuscript, I accidently loaded a Manuscript file in to an ASCII
editor. To my surprise I could read it. This is in contrast to
Microsoft Word, in which the file completely unreadable.
So what? you ask. Well, this means:
1) It should be easy to manually convert a file to
Manuscript
2) Using SED/LEX/YACC it may be possible to automatically
convert Manuscript files, to TeX or Troff.
As a sample of what these files look like, here is this note in
Manuscript format. I have changed control characters (e.g. cntl-Q
is ^Q)
