[comp.text] TeX fonts/TeX capacity

peterb@dsiramd.UUCP (02/26/87)

Two things,

Firstly, has anyone created TeX font files (.PXL, .PK, .GF) for the computer
modern fonts at magnifications suitable for the DEC LA100 printer
(resolution 144x72 dpi) or some other printer with similar resolution.
I am not even sure whether a non-square aspect ratio is supported by
TeX/Metafont, so we might have to settle for 72x72 dpi.

Secondly,

I have had a couple of complaints from people about getting the
!TeX capacity exceeded, sorry error while doing complex tables in LaTeX.
The TeX book says that "Wizards" are able to change these capacities. I
assume that you do it by getting into the source for TeX. Before I do this
'though I would like to here from anyone who has experienced the same problem
and who knows how much to change the constants by.

The only way I know of getting around this error is to break the source up
into several chunks which seems to destroy LaTeX's cross referencing facilities.

By the way we are running TeX on a MicroVAX II under VMS.

Thanks in advance,
