yesterday i call pertec to try to get some help making a pair of their floppy drives shugart compatible (i have a list of shugart jumper options needed by my controller, and no other information). when i finally reached someone who knew about such things, i learned that pertec now just makes the drives; everything else is handled by their distributer, ibex. when i called ibex i was told very definitly that they sell drives, parts and manuals, period. no help over the phone except for buying things. i had the impression that one could sweet-talk a pertec engineer into giving advice, but at the time i called there was no-one about who knew what i needed to know anyway. mARK bLOORE univ of toronto
