Excuse these novice questions: I'm in the process of installing TeX from a distribution tape I received from Univ. of Wash. There seem to be only cm* fonts and some math fonts from AMS (font names begin in m or eu) From looking at the sample TeX files and others, most of them refernce am* fonts. What is the difference between cm* and am* fonts? How do I get am* fonts? What are sources for alternate TeX fonts (ie ftp sources) -- John H. am fonts are obsolete. You should install the cm fonts. Examples which reference the am fonts should be edited to use the cm fonts instead (a simple text substitution). Ken
