Hello netlanders, I like to know if there's a convertion program from Postscript to Impress, preferably public domain. We don't like to spend some money on another laserprinter, if we can use the existing one. Please send me mail, I'll post a summary, if there's enough request. There have been several messages recently about converting PostScript to either QMS's QUIK or Imagen's ImPress format. In short, it can't be done. PostScript is a full programming language, and you can't just convert it into another format, you have to interpret it. Ventura Publisher's ability to read PostScript files is a kind of "sealed envelope" system. It can recognize a file as containing PostScript, but it does not attempt to interpret the PostScript. When it comes time to print, it sends the PostScript "envelope" to the printer along with the rest of the print job. My guess is that if you print to an ImPress printer, it will simply omit the PostScript (or it may print a gray box or something). I hope this helps.
