[comp.text] troff anomoly

carbo@ssc-vax.UUCP (Joseph Carbonaro) (04/20/87)

I have a documentation package that I use regularly that does
something strange that I cannot figure out. I have different
character strings that I define for use in various macros. In my
footer, there are three strings used, and they appear in the
correct places -- except on the first page. On the first page of
any document two of the strings switch places in the footer. They
appear in the correct places on every other page in the document,
and all of my other strings are placed properly in other macros.
It is just on the first page that these two strings are swapped.

I have tried placing the strings in the desired spots within the
same macro (first try), and then I tried creating a separate macro
just to place one of the strings in the desired place (with a
separate trap). Both implementations produced the same result: the
strings are in the correct places on all pages expect page one where
they are swapped.

The footer macro makes no distinction between page one and any other
pages, so I do not think it is in the macro call.

Any ideas??
