Common TeX Ver 2.1 will be sent to beta test sites next week. The Metafont translation has been done much more cleanly than the TeX translation and I have incorporated as many of these improvements to TeX as possible. Most importanly I had a few months to review the original and this release reflects that: I no longer use uppercase for attribute macros. I no longer use outer/inner or void for that matter. I no longer use Pascal-like declarations. I handle strings better. A few bug fixes. Due to the effort of the Metafont translation and my regular duties, I wont promise perfection. But I am very happy with the program. I believe it passes the Trip test and I believe there are no bugs that would cause incorrect processing of any user document. Give me a week to do some first ports and then please make an effort to get ver 2.1. I want to retire ver 2.0. Look for it after the middle of May. pat
