We have LaTeX running on a VAX/VMS system with output on an Apple LaserWriter+, and preview via DVItoVDU. The PostScript driver we are using (DVIPS from Arbortext) allows us to use LaserWriter resident fonts. This is fine, but when we want to preview a document containing LaserWriter fonts we have problems as DVItoVDU cannot represent them accurately. Instead it uses the default font (CMR10) which has different width. This means that things don't appear on the screen in exactly the same place as they should. Tables with vertical lines are a particular problem. When we got the LaserWriter we recieved some raster descriptions of the fonts intended for use by Mac software. Although these are at a resolution of only 72dpi this would be high enough for screen previewing. So does anyone have, or know of any software for converting such descriptions to one of the TeX raster description formats? Peter Burgess, Applied Mathematics Division, New Zealand Govt.
